On Refinery29: Lauren Gabrielson’s Perfect Outfit

Lauren Gabrielson Amy

The crown jewel for all street-style photographers who shoot for Refinery29 is to land a coveted “Perfect Outfit Story,” which is sent to all email subscribers. The reason this is great for us is because normally for our photographs to be seen people have to actually visit Refinery29 and click through to the post. Plus, the New York-based creative directors have very high standards for both the outfits and backgrounds, which makes this not only an honor but a “seal of approval.” I randomly spotted indie fashion designer Lauren Gabrielson in Wicker Park last month. I love how she layered fur over a supple leather jacket. And lest we forget her vintage Chanel pumps which I first published a few weeks back. This truly is a perfect outfit.

On Refinery29: Elise

Elise Amy

It was Elise’s tribal print boots that attracted my eye as she walked towards me down Division Street in Wicker Park. The fabric element of the leather boots reminds me of Pendleton, a brand that has been gaining steam ever since their buzzed-about collaborations with Opening Ceremony burst onto the fashion scene. And who could forget Proenza Schouler’s Fall 2011 collection, an homage to the Native American textiles and blankets designers Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCullough collected during their journey through the American Southwest last year. Elise was smart to combine such eye-catchers with an effortless, breezy all-black look. It keeps the focus where it should be, on that fantastic footwear.

On Refinery29: Ben, Ruggedly Handsome

Ben Amy
Ben’s street style photo was featured on Refinery29 yesterday thanks to his rugged good looks and great sense of style. See, you don’t always have to dress like Lenny Kravitz to be photographed by me (although it does help…)

Thank you Shani Silver for bringing alerting me to the awesome movement known as Movember, which encourages men to grow moustaches throughout the month of November to raise awareness of prostate cancer and other male diseases. To learn more, visit Movember.com.
