On Refinery29: Elise

Elise Amy

It was Elise’s tribal print boots that attracted my eye as she walked towards me down Division Street in Wicker Park. The fabric element of the leather boots reminds me of Pendleton, a brand that has been gaining steam ever since their buzzed-about collaborations with Opening Ceremony burst onto the fashion scene. And who could forget Proenza Schouler’s Fall 2011 collection, an homage to the Native American textiles and blankets designers Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCullough collected during their journey through the American Southwest last year. Elise was smart to combine such eye-catchers with an effortless, breezy all-black look. It keeps the focus where it should be, on that fantastic footwear.

Refinery29: Wear This Through the Holiday Shopping Craziness

Brittany of Britticisms

Brittany

Like many of you, I’ve been spending the long weekend with family and friends. I wanted to get this photo up before I dashed out of the house to visit the Museum of Science and Industry with my mom and little brother Matt, which is why it went up without a caption. Although really, does Brittany’s photo need one? Her deft ability to mix textures and prints speaks for itself.

Plus, I am obsessed with her shoes. As a woman who lives in flats I’m always looking for amazing pairs on women while I’m out and about. How cool are these? I can see them easily transitioning from work to play.

EDIT: Thank you Refinery29 for featuring Brittany’s photo and for reminding me to link to Brittany’s website. I had no idea she ran a fashion blog when I stopped her and I forgot to write down the link to her Tumblr, Britticisms. So here it is! (thanks Shani)

On Refinery29: Nicole, Fur & Fuschia

Nicole’s look has a magnificent amount of proportion play, with her oversized fur coat and billowy maxidress. The silhouette, from her topknot down to the leather boots, makes this photo one of my favorites. But really, it’s her fuschia lipstick that pulls Nicole’s entire look together.
