Dani’s music concert ready look is getting me pumped for
Electric Forest Festival this weekend! EFF is set on the Double JJ Ranch just like its predecessor Rothbury. The big change was a shift towards electronica and jamtronica and the primary festival grounds will now be Sherwood Forest. I am most excited about Sunday night, which features Pretty Lights from 11pm to 12:30 am and EOTO until 1:15 a.m. This year promises to be much more laid back and with much less pressure than in years past, as my festival partner this year is my best friend from college. I’m looking forward to relaxing and taking it easy with one of my favorite people on the planet. I need a vacation!!!
BUT – being the workaholic that I am, I will still technically be working. I am traveling to EFF to document the fashion of the festival goers. I am very much looking forward to a break from urban street-style hunting and am excited to document the kaleidoscopic looks the festies and female wooks bring to these rural environments. As a member of the press, I have access to power and wi-fi, so expect updates through out the weekend!

In the latest installment of “things Amy loves best about being a street-style photographer,” this post of Dale Jeffries takes the cake. I first heard of Dale when he started following me on Twitter, because he always had such nice to things to say about my blog. I had no idea what he looked like since his Tumblr doesn’t contain photos of himself. So when I was stalking the stylish outside of Barneys (like every day of my life) I saw this impeccably dressed young man walking out with a friend. I snapped into action and gave the whole “can I take your photo” spiel.
Imagine my surprise when Dale exclaimed “Oh my god you’re Amy from ChicagoStreetStyle.com, I am obsessed with your blog! We follow each other on Twitter, I’m Dale!” Everything clicked, because I knew that Dale has an obsession of all things Rick Owens, and he was wearing a Rick Owens DRKSHDW leather bomber jacket. Chicago needs more men like Dale, who appreciate the importance of fine design in fashion (and the magic of Rick Owens).
Follow Dale on Twitter, @Le_Smoking, read his blog Pheasants & Vultures, and tumble on his Tumblr Le Smoking.
When I spot someone like George on the streets of Chicago, it validates my entire existence. Immediately before running into George on Rush Street I had spent around 40 minutes style hunting with no success. The fact is that since I practice authentic street-style there are no guarantees. I am completely at the mercy of the universe and chance. So when someone like George comes walking towards me, after lots of time wasted, my heart starts to sing. It’s grueling physical labor to be a street-style photographer in Chicago. I spend an average of five to six hours outside walking around, and hike anywhere between 3 miles (short day) to 8 miles (long day) everyday. I have the calves to prove it. It takes that much time to find people like George, who are scattered like diamonds in the rough amongst the sea of sameness.
George is a very talented artist and illustrator based in Chicago. I thought at first he was a stylist, but his superb sartorial sensibility comes from his training as a graphic designer.
