Shala Monroque

Shala Eyes Open Crop RS

I snagged this photo of fashion icon, Vogue regular, and blogger Shala Monroque after the Cushnie Et Ochs show at Milk Studios. I believe there was some type of issue with her transportation, and this photo is of her waiting for everything to be sorted out. I didn’t want to bother her since she seemed really stressed out about the mishap. After waiting for her to hang up her phone call I took three quick photos of her sitting on the railing like this and walked away. The last thing I ever want to do is cross the line from street-style photographer into a paparazzi. I’m sure some day I’ll get to say hello to her.

In the end, I think this photo is much more beautiful than a posed shot. I’m really falling in love with candid photography.

Coco Rocha

CocoRocha
I met supermodel Coco Rocha at the IFB Conference on September 7th. She was a panelist on how to balance blogging with business. Coco writes about her life on her blog, Oh So Coco, and was the first supermodel to start a blog.
During the panel Q&A I asked a question about how to negotiate with brands. Coco was very sweet and jumped in to answer my question. She told me to always stand my ground, to believe in my dreams, and to never be afraid to fight for myself. She seemed like she actually cared about making sure that all of us bloggers realize our value, both as bloggers and as human beings. I knew Coco was a great person because I wrote a paper for my public policy class last winter about the viability of government regulation of thinness in fashion (like in Spain and Israel), and quoted Coco. She is a prominent advocate for healthy body images and actively works to make the world a better place by volunteering overseas
Coco is an incredibly inspirational woman and it was a privilege to photograph her for my blog. I only had a few seconds since her car was already waiting, but she was very happy to let me take her picture. Basically, Coco Rocha is a kickass person who just so happens to also be unbelievably gorgeous. Her inner-self is just beautiful as her outside.

Tony Wang

Tony Wang of post.fashionism is one of my favorite fashion bloggers to run into during New York Fashion Week. He’s a genuinely kind person who truly eats, sleeps, and breathes fashion. Currently attending the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, Tony has made a name for himself as a fashion consultant for clients ranging from Google to BCBG Max Azria. I first met him at the IFB Evolving Influence conference last Feburary.

Tony is wearing Jil Sander shoes (close-up photo on my Tumblr), a Christopher Kane tee, an AllSaints cardigan, custom designed jewelry on his left hand, and vintage rings on his right.
