Kourtney Kardashian

I really struggled to decide whether I should post this photo. I don’t watch any of the Kardashian TV shows. Everything I know about the Kardashians comes via my favorite celebrity blogger Michael K, and let’s just say he doesn’t paint the most flattering picture of them.

That being said, I think this is a beautiful image of a gorgeous woman. If you remove all the pre-existing Kardashian references and judge this image on its aesthetic merits, this photo absolutely deserves to be seen by my readers. It just took me a week to realize it. As a creative person I try to push myself beyond prejudices and to confront internal biases when I recognize them.

Back in Chicago: Amanda

I finally had a chance to take some Chicago street-style photos this weekend. I know you guys are probably sick of so many New York Fashion Week photos. One of the things that really sucks about the “street style olympics” as my friend Mr. Newton calls it is that everyone gets the same photos of the same people in the same outfits. Sure, maybe one photographer gets a better angle or lighting than another, but content wise it’s all the same for the most part. The key word here is oversaturation. I much prefer the solitude and peacefulness of shooting street-style in Chicago, where I know that 99.9% of the photos I get are exclusive to me.

NYFW Candid: For Tommy

man texting
Even texting this man looked impeccably polished. I have to admit, it was his shoes that first caught my attention. I wonder if they were designed to be darker at the tips, or if lots of “love” led them to take on such a glorious patina. I guess we’ll never know.

If you look closer, you’ll see that his knit tie is squared off at the end. This seems to be a growing trend among the cutting-edge male fashion set, as it was even picked up on by The Sartorialist. I wish I could take credit for noticing such a small yet important detail, but we all know how little I truly know about menswear. I know my readers would call me out for lying in a second, especially Tommy. I love that about you guys, you keep me real (as long as your comments are thoughtful and respectful. It’s ok to disagree with me about a photo, just make sure that it’s constructive and not just Anonymous-style bashing).
