Zana Bayne on 21 Arrondissement

Zana Bayne from Le 21ème Arrondissement on Vimeo.

This video is from my friend Adam’s blog, 21 Arrondissement. He recorded this during Zana Bayne’s F/W 2011 presentation at The Standard Hotel. If you don’t follow his work already, you need to start now. Although he first became famous in Seattle he now lives and works in New York City for a little store called Opening Ceremony. In my completely humble opinion, he has the clearest – and strongest – point of view of any street-style photographer. Even more so than the Sartorialist. Regardless of who Adam photographs they all have that “Le 21eme” look. That sort of visual purity is extremely difficult to achieve, but it’s one of the reasons Adam’s blog is adored by the fashion world.
ALSO:
I bought my first Zana Bayne harness a couple weeks ago after lusting after her pieces for almost a full year. Meagan from LATTERSTYLE introduced me to Bayne’s work at the Labrabbit Optics opening party back in September 2010. After months of self-control I finally broke down when I saw her editorial feature in i-D Magazine and splurged on both that belt and the necklace harness.

VIDEO: Walk through Electric Forest’s Sherwood Forest

This is a video I took of my journey through Electric Forest’s version of Sherwood Forest. Sherwood Forest quickly became the focus and center of Rothbury, the predecessor of Electric Forest. Rothbury was more like Bonnaroo or Coachella in that a wide variety of mainstream acts were hosted alongside the core jam bands. When Rothbury 2010 fell through, Madison House realized that they had a valuable commodity with the pine forest on the grounds of Double JJ Ranch and rebranded Rothbury as “Electric Forest.” In the process, they streamlined the artist line-up to only include electronica, jam bands, and jamtronica (with a few exceptions) to create a 4 day long rave-like experience in a psychedelic forestscape.
Needless to say, I had a ton of fun.

VIDEO: Rodarte x Sally Singer at Cooper-Hewitt

June 28, 2011  |  Inspiration, Video

If you have an extra hour, please take the time to watch this video of Laura Mulleavy discussing her inspiration, design process, and feelings about Rodarte with T Magazine Editor in Chief Sally Singer (formerly of VOGUE). This video was created as part of the Rodarte exhibition at the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum.

This video will give you a whole new perspective on Rodarte. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of LULA Magazine Issue #11, which was creatively directed and edited by Laura and Kate Mulleavy. I am in a Rodarte state of mind.

You can also watch it in pieces, which is what I did.

Read more about the Rodarte exhibition at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum website.

EDIT: If you only have 5 minutes to spare, please watch the official video about the exhibition below.
