Zana Bayne on 21 Arrondissement

July 13, 2011  |  Inspiration, Video

Zana Bayne from Le 21ème Arrondissement on Vimeo.

This video is from my friend Adam’s blog, 21 Arrondissement. He recorded this during Zana Bayne’s F/W 2011 presentation at The Standard Hotel. If you don’t follow his work already, you need to start now. Although he first became famous in Seattle he now lives and works in New York City for a little store called Opening Ceremony. In my completely humble opinion, he has the clearest – and strongest – point of view of any street-style photographer. Even more so than the Sartorialist. Regardless of who Adam photographs they all have that “Le 21eme” look. That sort of visual purity is extremely difficult to achieve, but it’s one of the reasons Adam’s blog is adored by the fashion world.
ALSO:
I bought my first Zana Bayne harness a couple weeks ago after lusting after her pieces for almost a full year. Meagan from LATTERSTYLE introduced me to Bayne’s work at the Labrabbit Optics opening party back in September 2010. After months of self-control I finally broke down when I saw her editorial feature in i-D Magazine and splurged on both that belt and the necklace harness.

  1. Adam's work is amazing. He really has a discriminating eye and seems unwilling to settle for anything but amazing. His photography is frighteningly vivid, I sometime feel like I am on the street with his subjects. I always wondered why I has such an affinity for Chicago Street Style, makes sense that you 2 are friends.
