I rarely take candid shots because I prefer the face-to-face interaction of posed photos. Plus, for ethical reasons, I like to obtain verbal consent before photographing individuals for pictures that will be seen around the world.
In this case, the man was engrossed in a conversation on his cell phone and you cannot see his face. Therefore I felt comfortable posting this image because he is fairly anonymous.
I really loved how well his jeans compliment the color and texture of the gray-blue steel panels in the Diesel store facade.
What do you all think – would you like to see more candid shots like this one?
Mallory’s eclectic mix of jewelry, boho-chic vibe, and on-trend tribal print dress earned her a beloved spot on Refinery29. To view the close-up shot of her amazing bracelets and rings, click here.
I ran into Marion walking down Pearson, heading towards Rush Street on a typical day style hunting. I became very excited when I spotted her in Prada banana earrings and pumps. This would have been any other amazing street style photograph, except for the incredible synchronicity.
Randomly I photographed Marion at the Capital One commercial shoot in New York on spring break. I was heading to Les Halles for lunch with my friend Emily Ferber when we stumbled upon the set. I cared less about photographing Alec Baldwin and more about getting a good shot of this spellbinding woman. The Prada socks and pumps! The leopard coat! The leather pants! She was very busy working, therefore I chose not to interrupt her and photographed her quietly.
What is so strange about all of this is that Marion told me she rarely wears these pumps. She thought it was so funny that I photographed her twice, months apart and in cities separated from each other by a thousand miles, in shoes she never wears. For me, this was just another example of synchronicity.
She was walking very briskly when I caught her in the Gold Coast. Although Marion was very nice, she seemed to be in a rush. I didn’t want to pry so if any of you knows who this is, please comment. The curiosity is eating me up!
