Amy: I just have one question – what’s it like as a designer to go between really glamorous work to something more minimalist like what you did for Meryl Streep?
Chris: You know, actually it’s kind of funny. People have been asking me that, like “how did I do the stuff – that I do like my wild costume designs and stuff like I did for tonight’s show, and stuff like, more sleek like Meryl Streep’s dress?” I guess you have different gears, and know who you’re designing for, and what they want, what they need, and listen. And, you know, I guess I just can do both, I don’t know.
Amy: That’s a great response. Thank you.
Chris: Thanks.
Macy’s was incredibly generous to give me the opportunity to photograph and interview the celebrities in attendance. This being my first red carpet media event, I was not prepared for the perpetual jostling of the photo pit, so I took the best photographs I could from where I was standing. I also was only able to ask Terry Lundgren and Chris March each a single question due to time constraints. I will be uploading their very interesting answers tomorrow – so please check back!

The real star of GLAMORAMA 2010 was Maximillion [Max] Herrick and his family. Max Herrick was looking stylish in his super trendy straw fedora, navy & sky blue striped dress shirt over a Darth Vader tee, blue slacks, and Converse sneakers.
Max was born with a congenital heart problem and underwent a heart transplant at the tender age of two. Max then developed non-Hodgkin lymphoma from the anti-rejection medication he was placed on to help his body accept his new heart. His parents and siblings depended on the Ronald McDonald House near the current Lurie Children’s Hospital to maintain a semblance of normalcy during the soul-wrenching process of nursing a child back to health. The Herrick Family originally hails from Barrington, Illinois so the Ronald McDonald House was a critical part of Max’s treatment for his ongoing health struggles. Most importantly, the Ronald McDonald House allowed the Herrick Family to stay together during the toughest time of their lives.
Without the Ronald McDonald House Charities sick children like Max Herrick would be separated from their families during the most challenging time of their lives. Sadly, there are always more families in need of a place to stay while their child is hospitalized than accommodations available. Over the past 28 years, GLAMORAMA has raised over $34 million for various causes. This year, the Ronald McDonald House Charities will use the money from GLAMORAMA’s ticket sales to expand their capacity from their current limit of 22 families to over 80 families with the construction of a new skyscraper housing facility for the Chicagoland area. Without support from you and I, parents and families will continue to be separated from their sick child.
If you didn’t attend GLAMORAMA this year make sure to attend next year! Not only will you be present for the biggest annual fashion event in Chicago – and a guest at one of the hottest afterparties (full of models and Chicago celebrities) – but you’ll also be giving your time and money to support a great cause.
