Candice Lake and All The Pretty Birds (by Tamu McPherson) are two fabulous street-style blogs run by talented female photographers, so if you don’t follow them already you should start today.

Cathy Horyn elucidates the three dominant trends from the Spring 2012 collections at New York Fashion Week in this video. Cathy is one of my favorite fashion critics because she takes her role as a journalist seriously. She’s an intellectual who values her role as a scholar of fashion. In today’s era of “editor as stylist” it’s refreshing to see a fashion journalist who can actually write. I anxiously check the New York Times website for her runway show reviews during fashion week, although her articles for the Times during the rest of the year are equally insightful.
