Neiman Marcus x Target Collaboration Wishlist!

Neiman Marcus x Target Collaboration Wishlist!

November 5, 2012

Last week, Target unveiled its unprecedented collaboration with luxury retailer Neiman Marcus, Holiday24. Together they hand-selected 25 American designers, all of whom sell their collections to Neiman Marcus. The designers created 50 gifts for the holiday season. Ranging from Christmas ornaments to clothing (of course), these coveted pieces are sure to become treasures cherished for years to come.

Christmas is nearly two months away, but I’ve already put together my gift wishlist. For my friends and family who live in Arkansas – where the Target lines are guaranteed to be either super short or non-existent – I’m looking at YOU.

Although both Rodarte pieces are specifically made for the holidays, I think I’ll frame and display the wrapping paper like art and hang the galaxy-inspired ornament in my closet. I’m someone who went to Space Camp in 5th grade and took Astrophysics as an elective at Michigan State, so if you think I’ll be passing up on either of these, well…

Every girl needs a way to open letters in style, no? This Eddie Borgo letter opener is like jewelry for my desk.

The Proenza Schouler boys have the Midas touch and their latest collaboration with Target is no different. Living in Chicago means I can never have one too many sweatshirts, and I adore the paint-splattered look of this top. The iPad case brings a relaxed energy with its craft-like touch, balancing out its technological utility with a healthy dose of wit.

Wish List… Proenza Schouler Tribal Pumps

With sale season swinging into high gear you can find incredible deals on Fall 2011 merchandise everywhere. The reason these bad boys, which are currently 50% off on ShopBop, will never be in my closet is because of the height. It doesn’t mean I can’t admire them. Even without a platform they’re still 5″ tall. I whine about my feet hurting in anything higher than 2″. I’m in the process of building a killer designer sneaker collection which according to Tommy Ton, is the surprise hit trend of 2011. The great thing about being a street-style photographer is that I can live vicariously through my subjects. Even though I’m nearly always in flats, I love to photograph women in heels.

I have a soft spot for anything tribal so it pains me that these sandals are literally too, well, painful for me to ever rock. The Proenza Schouler Fall 2011 collection was honestly the first time I’ve ever lusted after any Native American-inspired pieces by Western designers. Often times when designers are inspired by the whole “Cowboys and Indians” era the clothes end up kitschy and lame with a borderline racist vibe. Jack and Lazaro were able to transform their source of inspiration – Navajo blankets – into something completely new while honoring the source of their creativity with the utmost respect.

Theyskens’ Theory Jeselia Dress

Theyskens’ Theory Jeselia Dress

Dear Jeselia: I need you in my life as soon as possible. Your wrinkled leather projects such an effortless sense of cool, but the long sleeves keep things real just in case anyone thought you were trying too hard. Though the hemline is an ultra-sexy length, in your soul you are elegance with a rock-and-roll twist. Dare I say, you might be the perfect dress. Kisses, Amy.

Whoa, did I just write a love note to a piece of clothing? This post is totally a joke, but not really. I really do love this dress.
