Chicago would be a far more interesting place if there were more people courageous enough to express their individuality through a fiercely personal sense of style. Luckily, there is one person who I can always count on for an intriguing photo: Sky Cubacub. The precociously accomplished chainmaille and embroidery artisan is studying art and design at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago on a Presidential Scholarship, the nation’s highest educational honor for seniors graduating from high school.
Remington Messinger lives and breathes fashion. He is a fashion design student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, one of the world’s premier design and visual arts educational institutions. In addition to studying at SAIC, Remington is the apprentice to the creative stylist at the Ralph Lauren flagship store on Michigan Avenue. Chicago Magazine’s October 2010 issue contained an article about how the restaurant is beloved by Chicago’s high society. Quite the fortuitous beginning for someone passionate about building a career in fashion!
Leah Silverblatt is currently a fashion design student at the prestigious School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is wearing glamorous gold metallic eyelashes with her equestrian-inspired ensemble. Her look is preppy with a touch of whimsy, and playful without going overboard. We need more people like Leah in Chicago; individuals who are willing to explore the frontiers of what fashion has to offer.
