Cynthia Rowley’s Traci Button, Lau, and Nicole

Last night was my official debut of sorts onto the Chicago fashion scene. I hosted Cynthia Rowley’s Spring 2011 trunk show. The runway samples were on display and Traci made beautiful laminated lookbooks with photos of all the runway looks. For many of the guests this was their first designer trunk show. Being only 24 myself, this is only my third trunk show. Since my followers, readers, and fans tend to be on the young side (average between 16 and 35 years old), it was really exciting to be able to introduce Cynthia Rowley to a whole new demographic. Many of the partygoers hadn’t ever visited the boutique before – and several of those same attendees left with purses and dresses from Cynthia Rowley.

As you can tell from the photos above, the bloggers were out in force. They ranged from street style to personal style bloggers, and I’m sure we’ll be seeing Cynthia’s pieces on blogs for weeks to come. Isa of Chicago Looks captured some fantastic photographs of partygoers for her blog: check them out here. All in all, the event was a great success. Over half of the RSVP list showed up for a total of 68 people. At one point it was quite difficult to move from the front of the boutique to the back. But hey, it’s always better to have an event over-attended than under-attended, right!?

*Special thanks to Cynthia Rowley for inviting me to host her Spring 2011 trunk show! Shout outs to Vosges Haut Chocolat for providing such fantastic goodies to munch on, Il Prosecco for the libations, and Fiji Water for the refreshing bottled water!

*Extra special thanks to the stylists who assisted me with the event: Matt Kasin of Strange Beauty Show; Anthony Maslo and Cortney Tippin of Salon Soca; and Halley Nop of Marianne Strokirk.

Jena is carrying a Proenza Schouler PS1

My good friend Jena Gambaccini is the fashion blogger behind ChiCityFashion.com, the social media associate at Shop E-Drop Off, and a Gilt Groupe Brand Ambassador. She also has one of the most insane wardrobes I’ve ever seen. It is no exaggeration to say that she might have one of the largest collections of Proenza Schouler in Chicago, and certainly must be the youngest serious aficionado of the brand in the Windy City. She is nearly always seen carrying the current “it bag,” the Proenza Schouler PS1.

When I had the opportunity to meet Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCullough at the IFB Evolving Influence conference, I had to tell them about one of their fiercest Chicago fans (besides Ikram Goldman, of course). So Jena and I thought it would be fun to style and photograph her in three outfits centered around a Proenza Schouler piece. We had a blast with our mini-photoshoot, and I hope you enjoy this editorial-style post as a break from the recent onslaught of New York Fashion Week posts! Below, she is seen carrying a sick Alexander McQueen glove clutch.

Adam Sinding of Le 21eme Arrondissement is wearing Rick Owens. We bonded over fashion at Lincoln Center this afternoon while shooting street style together after the Prabal Gurung show. Adam has been one of my favorite street style photographers for a couple years now. Meeting him in person was great because he was super fucking cool and down to earth.
