VIDEO: Rodarte x Sally Singer at Cooper-Hewitt

June 28, 2011  |  Inspiration, Video

If you have an extra hour, please take the time to watch this video of Laura Mulleavy discussing her inspiration, design process, and feelings about Rodarte with T Magazine Editor in Chief Sally Singer (formerly of VOGUE). This video was created as part of the Rodarte exhibition at the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum.

This video will give you a whole new perspective on Rodarte. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of LULA Magazine Issue #11, which was creatively directed and edited by Laura and Kate Mulleavy. I am in a Rodarte state of mind.

You can also watch it in pieces, which is what I did.

Read more about the Rodarte exhibition at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum website.

EDIT: If you only have 5 minutes to spare, please watch the official video about the exhibition below.

Scenes from Chicago’s 2011 Gay Pride Parade

Sunday was the annual Chicago Gay Pride Parade in Lakeview. Although I missed the parade itself, I found the atmosphere of the entire day intoxicating in the best possible way. Even the police officers were in great moods as well, and not only because overtime pay is awesome. When crowds are happy and peaceful, cops tend to relax and have a good time too. The female police officer above actually gave me a huge hug when I stood up from photographing her. It’s the first time I’ve ever been hugged by a cop!
