One of my favorite Chicago fashion journalists, “The Indumentarian” Roberto Del Rio, shadowed me last Friday as I went streetstyle hunting in Wicker Park. He wrote a lovely article about me and Chicago Streetstyle Scene. Part 1 came out today and Part 2 will be coming out tomorrow. Make sure to check it out!

This past autumn I photographed Tony and Tayben out front of Sprinkles, the Gold Coast cupcake boutique. This time I caught them on their way into luxury flagship Burberry. Tony, a beauty stylist, gave me excellent manicure advice when I complimented him on his checkerboard nail design (see photo insert below). Tayben is a fashion design student here in Chicago. Both Tayben and Tony highly recommended I try celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann’s eponymous nail polishes for their high quality, staying power, and novel materials like real diamond dust and 24k gold flakes.

Roberta Brown is a bonafide Chicago legend. In one of the coolest and most bizarre experiences to date in my streetstyle career, the famed Marshall Field’s Walnut Room pianist pulled up next to me in a car as I was walking down Rush Street. Roberta was sitting in the passenger seat and leaned forward to compliment me on my Mongolian lambswool fur coat. She had no idea I was a photographer, or even what streetstyle blogging is, but was more than happy to let me photograph her famous hands. Roberta always wears her beloved rings and has her nails painted in fabulous colors. The octogenarian can still be found playing the piano in the Walnut Room at Macy’s on State Street.
