One of my very favorite photos from fashion week, this image of Laurel Pantin goofing off with a construction worker outside of Milk Studios illustrates just how playful street-style can be. Capturing a photo like this reminded me of the somewhat more intimate atmosphere that used to exist between street-style bloggers and the models/editors/buyers back when I started my blog almost 5 years ago. Given what a circus-like atmosphere it’s become outside the shows with more paparazzi than blogger/photographers, it’s not surprising that the street-stylers are more on edge than ever before. Sad, but understandable.
I spotted Mariana on my way home after shooting street style all afternoon on Sunday. Between the perfect sunlight glow and the background of the Morgan CTA stop, snapping this photograph was a beautiful way to finish off a gorgeous weekend…
This post is dedicated to my supremely talented art director Christina Vang, whose thoughtful encouragement and creative coaching is challenging me to rethink how I approach the classic squared-up street-style photo format.
