I spotted Allison dashing around Wicker Park Fest and was instantly intrigued. I immediately identified her as an American Apparel employee, as I’ve been lusting after their new Chiffon collection. She is wearing both the Chiffon [single layer] full length skirt in periwinkle and a Chiffon oversized button-up collared shirt in Maiz. Allison is also wearing the new floppy hat, the love child of the [now public] love affair between Baron Hats and American Apparel. Unfortunately, they were sold out of the double-layer Chiffon skirt in cobalt in my size and I’d like to try it on first to make sure I can pull it off. Not everyone exudes the effortless charisma of American Apparel employees, who so expertly pull off looks I only fantasize about achieving.
Melissa of Vintage Freak sells an incredible array of glamourous vintage jewelry at her Vintage Heaven table. Vintage Heaven is a vintage wares marketplace located on the second floor of 1550 North Milwaukee. Although their business hours vary, Vintage Heaven was sure to be open during one of the biggest events of the year on the west side of Chicago – Wicker Park Fest. Yesterday, I purchased the beautiful emerald clip-on earrings and matching brooch from her. Today, I ventured back to Wicker Park Fest to pick up the beautiful crystal starburst pin I passed on earlier, and then found myself unable to stop thinking about. Note to self: never pass on vintage pieces because I might never find it again! Jeremy and I spent the rest of the afternoon listening to great music at the festival as an added bonus. Look for the upcoming review of Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey at Chicago Jam Scene!
