Tibi Fall 2011 Collection

Attending the Tibi Fall 2010 runway show was the culmination of my magical first fashion week. This was my first runway show at New York Fashion Week. I was seated with the buyers in the bleachers, and not in the photo pit, so my photos did not turn out very well (obviously). Although, if you look closely, you can see none other than the Man Repeller herself sitting front row in her khaki trench coat. The high quality photos are from Style.com.

I offer my photographs as proof of why I chose to take very few pictures. I was in the sixth row, which was really cool, but I didn’t have a stellar vantage point to use my camera. So put my Olympus Pen down to enjoy my first NYFW runway show. I even saw a model fall – always heart-wrenching – but I was heartened by the outpouring of empathy from the audience, which erupted in cheers the moment Jiang Xiao Yi triumphantly rose from the catwalk.

Overall I really enjoyed the looks presented by Tibi designer Amy Smilovic. Several different concepts were referenced by this collection, including 90s grunge, flora and fauna, and the “little red dress.” My favorite look can be seen below; a Rorschach inspired white cocktail dress with subtle designs of bees, flowers, and birds reflected in the red print. The Man Repeller (who as mentioned above, sat front row), had her own signature take on this dress, which you can read about here.
