68 people “officially” attended (over half of the RSVP list) but the final count is closer to 80, since many people who didn’t RSVP came

Last night was my official debut of sorts onto the Chicago fashion scene. I hosted
Cynthia Rowley’s Spring 2011 trunk show. The runway samples were on display and Traci made beautiful laminated lookbooks with photos of all the runway looks. For many of the guests this was their first designer trunk show. Being only 24 myself, this is only my third trunk show. Since my followers, readers, and fans tend to be on the young side (average between 16 and 35 years old), it was really exciting to be able to introduce Cynthia Rowley to a whole new demographic. Many of the partygoers hadn’t ever visited the boutique before – and several of those same attendees left with purses and dresses from
Cynthia Rowley.
As you can tell from the photos above, the bloggers were out in force. They ranged from street style to personal style bloggers, and I’m sure we’ll be seeing Cynthia’s pieces on blogs for weeks to come. Isa of Chicago Looks captured some fantastic photographs of partygoers for her blog: check them out here. All in all, the event was a great success. Over half of the RSVP list showed up for a total of 68 people. At one point it was quite difficult to move from the front of the boutique to the back. But hey, it’s always better to have an event over-attended than under-attended, right!?

Special thanks to Cynthia Rowley for inviting me to host her Spring 2011 trunk show! Shout outs to Vosges Haut Chocolat for providing such fantastic goodies to munch on, Il Prosecco for the libations, and Fiji Water for the refreshing bottled water!
*Extra special thanks to the stylists who assisted me with the event: Matt Kasin of Strange Beauty Show; Anthony Maslo and Cortney Tippin of Salon Soca; and Halley Nop of Marianne Strokirk.
Brad Goreski was charged with perhaps Fashion Week’s most important mission: patrolling the streets individuals with “arresting” style. In that sense, he became a street style hunter for this week only. I wonder if he’s going to leave behind the world of celebrity styling to compete with the Sartorialist? Probably not. But he seemed to be having a blast with the assignment!

I was one of the people he singled out for having great personal style at New York Fashion Week, and the reward was an invite to his super exclusive party inside of the Mercedes-Benz tents at Lincoln Center. Attendees included Geri Hirsch from Because I’m Addicted, the Man Repeller herself Leandra Medine, stylist Annabet Duvall, and movie star Vanessa Hudgens (who I missed getting a photo of)!

Derek Smith of Pretty Lights is my absolute favorite musician and has been for well over a year. Frazier knows that I ONLY drive to Pretty Lights and automatically dials it into the car iPod when I take the wheel. On the way home from Grand Rapids last weekend we listened to Making up a Changing Mind twice and my all-time favorite album, Filling Up the City Skies. Derek is not only the coolest guy on the planet but he’s also incredibly friendly. Hanging out with him and his friend
Samantha backstage today was a dream come true!
