Christie

Christie
Christie’s classic “All-American” look is typical of DePaul students and the Lincoln Park neighborhood. What I found interesting enough about her to photograph was her natural beauty, heightened by a lack of makeup, her relaxed demeanor, and navy silk scarf. Silk scarves are generally underutilized by young women in America and are usually seen – if at all – only on older ladies or fans of the vintage look.

Lately I have been incorporating more vintage into my wardrobe. As I become more attentive to identifying fashionable people on the street (like Lydia), I am beginning to understand how to artfully mix older clothes with new to create stylish looks. As you can see above, Lydia took a vintage acid-wash jean skirt and mixed it with an American Apparel jacket to create a casual chic look.

Brad

I love Brad’s riff on the Lincoln Park prepster. He made it stylish with details such as suede oxfords, tailored jeans, and a slate blazer. When building upon the classic American look, it only takes a few well-thought-out pieces to make the ensemble fashionable.

Brad also runs a men’s fashion blog called Small Time Crooks with his friend Trey. Be sure to check it out. They explore the concepts behind a lot of what you see in male fashion today.
