Pitchfork Street Style... Bleach Blonde

Pitchfork Street Style… Bleach Blonde

This beautiful young woman at Pitchfork reminded me of supermodel Abbey Lee in Milan. The stark bleach blonde hair, ethereal white clothing, and amulet jewelry create a transcendent sense of mystery. Personally, I hate wearing white because I am terrified of staining it with the tea I drink daily, but I suppose that’s part of the magic. Instantly I carry myself differently in white. The heightened care with which I travel through my daily life creates a zen-like a focus on mindfulness. Fashion is transformative in a variety of ways!

Considering Proenza Schouler Fall 2012’s ode to white and Phoebe Philo’s ongoing love affair with the color(?) at Céline, expect to see lots of angular white clothing in high fashion boutiques and fast fashion mass retailers alike.

Will you be wearing white clothing this fall?

Pitchfork Street Style... The Flannel

Pitchfork Street Style… The Flannel

I’m partial to flannel shirts tied around the waist, and it’s not just because that was my uniform in middle school during the 1990s. Ok, so maybe it is. This is one aspect of the 1990s comeback that I actually do enjoy. My Theyskens Theory flannel top is one of my most treasured pieces and you’ll NEVER spot it on eBay (I pinky swear). That was uber-prententious of me to link to a photo of myself in CS Magazine but that’s the only picture of me in the top!

I hunted down three of the coolest flannel shirts the internet has to offer so y’all can get in on the trend. Can you believe it’s already time to stock up your fall wardrobe?

1.Forever21, Plaid Shirt, $17.80

2. Style Stalker, Courtney Love top, $139

3. Etoile Isabel Marant, Meg Flannel Shirtdress, $195 (50% OFF!)

Pitchfork Street Style... The Hat

Pitchfork Street Style… The Hat

Maybe it’s just because Breaking Bad is fresh on my mind that I chose to post this woman’s photograph first. One of the most interesting elements of the Breaking Bad storyline is how Walter White transforms into Heisenberg by doffing his pork pie hat. It’s the hat that gives him the power to embrace his inner darkness. Being the ultimate fashion nerd means I fixate on the little details of costumes in my favorite shows and movies. Walt’s relationship with his alter-ego Heisenberg vis-à-vis his hat illustrates the loving care Breaking Bad’s writers pour into the series. In this show, everything has meaning.
