Jena is one of the few people I’m able to meet up with during New York fashion week, usually because our paths cross outside of a show. I’m flitting around the city, shooting street-style and chasing editors from show to show, dashing uptown in a cab or riding the subway to Chelsea. I don’t really have to just chill with friends or even eat lunch. I’m not in New York hanging out; I’m working. That’s what was wonderful about Jena inviting me to the GLSEN anti-bullying event she hosted along with Elle Magazine at the Empire Hotel. It gave me an excuse to rest, especially since I wasn’t feeling well. Thankfully I attended all three runway shows I was invited to (Creatures of the Wind, Suno, and Tibi) days earlier. Yesterday I managed to pull myself together for a short trip downtown for the New York premiere of Tavi Gevinson’s new animated short Cadaver at The Standard Hotel in the East Village.
Fashion week is fun but it’s not easy when you’re sick!
