Remember how I told you I like candids? Well it ruins it when the subject realizes you’re photographing them! I actually love this photo for that exact reason, because it captures that moment of awareness when the subject says, “hey, wait just a minute…”
tell me about it. i've had so many of such encounters.
it helps if you have a telephoto lens coz then they won't realise they're being shot which raises some ethical/privacy issues though.
i find it easier to be ready with my business card and a darn good explanation…
After I took this photograph Daniel came up to me to say hello. I've photographed him twice before so he's cool with me taking street-style photos of him. I actually took some posed one of him but I liked this one best.
Most of my streetstyle photos are candids and people often do realize they're being snapped. Most of them just ignore it. So far, I've never had anyone object – usually just the opposite. Oddly, though, I've been accosted a couple of times by people I wasn't photographing who were certain I'd just taken their picture. Hmmm…
