Electric Forest – We’re Here!!!

My partner in crime, sister from another mista’, and all around best friend Maryhelen and I pulled into Electric Forest Festival in Rothbury, Michigan, just an hour ago. We hit insane traffic leaving Chicago and a severe thunderstorm in Gary, Indiana that delayed our travels. We drove through the beautiful Northern Michigan pine forest and stopped at a Meijer to grab essential supplies. Six hours after leaving Chicago we finally arrived at the Double JJ Ranch.

After grabbing our media passes and unpacking the tent, we hit the festival grounds for a little “freak-style” hunting. Below are a few photos and one video that I just took within the past 30 minutes. Look forward to more updates throughout the weekend!

Elise and Jesse

Elise and Jesse
There are few things I love more than to photograph a hot fashionable couple together. Just like John and Courtney, Elise and Jesse mirror each others’ styles unnervingly well. I find this such a fascinating phenomenon, although I probably shouldn’t be shocked this happens so often since couples tend to develop similar tastes in food, music, and books as well. So why not fashion? Perhaps its the visual nature of this phenomenon that is so striking. I can literally see how these two people are affecting each other creatively and expressively.
Elise and Jesse remind me so much of the Rick Owens aesthetic with the torn shirts, drop crotch pants, and monochrome palette. Unsurprising considering Jesse is wearing Rick Owens sneakers, and both cited him as a primary influence in their personal style.

Havaianas Party and Winners

Yesterday I co-hosted the Havaianas party to celebrate the opening of their new pop-up shop on North Avenue beach. This location allows beachgoers to create their own custom pair of Havaianas. A rainbow of different colored straps and soles are available to mix and match, and a small charm is included in the $25 price. The event took place in a fenced in area of the beach and included a DJ, free food and alcohol, and a giant spinning prize wheel.

Everyone was having a great time until the storm clouds rolled in and literally began to rain on our parade. Thankfully I got to hang out with many of the lovely women who won the competition:

Leilani (@TheThriftaholic)
Sara (@About_The_Look)
Kelly (@PathToPositive)
Jules (@ShopJules)
Adriana (@AnarchyGarden)
Vanessa @vanewpc who came in winner Tamariie (@LeTamz)’s place

I will let you all know when the Havaiana flip flops you won arrived, and it was really nice meeting several of you for the first time in person tonight!
