The results of the Chicago Reader’s annual poll of “The Best of Chicago” were released today. I had no idea that this polling was even taking place, otherwise you can be sure I would have been campaigning. I am doubly shocked that I won one of the top spots without even trying! I went to check my website traffic today to see why it had rocketed up so high. Imagine my utter and complete surprise that when I clicked on a link from the Chicago Reader website, I saw Chicago Street Style was voted one of the Top 3 fashion blogs of 2011.

Tavi of Style Rookie was voted the best, Refinery29 Chicago (which I freelance for) was the first runner-up, and my website was the second runner-up. Congratulations to Tavi, who hands-down deserves this award for her boundless creativity, work ethic, and success. She earned it!

Since this is all happening right around the time of my one year anniversary, I want to take this opportunity to thank all of my readers, supporters, friends, and family for helping make Chicago Street Style one of the best fashion blogs in Chicago. Without your feedback, support, care, and reading of my blog, I would not be anywhere near as successful as I am today. I am so honored to be given such a large platform in the press and in Chicago society to promote the city’s fashion scene. That’s really what all of this is about. Chicago Street Style – at its core – is about one girl with a camera, running around the streets of Chicago, photographing things and people who inspire her. It’s really about the nearly one thousand people I’ve photographed over the past year, and the style of the Windy City.

From the bottom of my heart – thank you to everyone who reads my blog, and especially to those who leave comments, tweet, and promote my posts on Facebook. You are the ones who I really owe much of this success to!

*Also, congratulations to our friends over at Kokorokoko for winning runner-up for Best Vintage Store!

Rachel and Ralphy’L are quite possibly the cutest couple I’ve ever photographed. There’s no question that they’re definitely the couple with the most swag on Chicago Street Style. Ralphy’L made the bracelet Rachel is wearing under the label Mama’s Beads, an upstart jewelry company he co-owns with his rapper friends. Their group is called Mama’s Boys, and the evolution towards a creative career came out of his music.
