With the rise of temperatures comes the flaunting of skin, which leads to a vibrant tapestry of body art across the streets of Chicago. Tattoos are an expression of self-identity and individuality. I find them very interesting and particularly appropriate for a Chicago street style website, because Chicago is internationally renowned for its expert tattoo artists, particularly those who work with color.

I find it very fascinating as a street-style photographer that not only do Chicagoans love to bathe themselves in rich, vibrant hues – my recent photo of Jessica comes to mind – but they like to permanently mark their skin with bright colors as well. In contrast Los Angeles is a city well known for its blackwork tattoos (especially cursive text and black and white portraiture) and the New York fashion set loves to drape themselves in black, as a visit to my friend Adam Sinding’s street-style website Le 21eme Arrondissement beautifully reveals.

NYFW… Yasmin Sewell

Yasmin

Yasmin Sewell is a fashion consultant in addition to her part-time position as a street-style superstar during fashion weeks. Don’t believe me? Click here, here and here.

On Yasmin’s feet are futuristic Acne boots which you can purchase here on Tobi (only available in black, which I like better).

The skirt is actually a Christopher Kane dress, available for purchase here on LuisaViaRoma for 50% off (only in Lemon yellow).

Her coat is by Mother of Pearl, an English cult favorite label adored by fashion insiders.

And on another note, it’s really encouraging to me to see how much my photography skills have improved in the last four months. Just compare this photo of Yasmin to any one of my more recent photos. Since New York Fashion Week in early February I’ve really become far more confident in directing my subjects and using manual settings on my camera.

Vote for Jena Gambaccini, Guess Global Street Chic Ambassador

Source: ChiCityFashion.com

My friend Jena Gambaccini has made it to the final round of the Guess? Global Street Chic Ambassador. Congrats Jena! Now all she has to do is beat out the other 15 finalists for the position as a brand ambassador by amassing the most votes.

It’s easy to help her win – all you have to do is:

Step 1: “Like” the Guess? Facebook Page

Step 2: Click here, and then scroll to middle of the page to click “vote” under Jena’s photo. She’s in the second row, second from the left. Her photo is the same as above.

Jena works harder than virtually anyone I know to promote the Chicago fashion scene through her three different social media positions. Not only is she the Social Media Associate at Shop E-Drop Off, but she also manages and runs her own fashion blog Chi-City Fashion in addition to being one of The Style Tribe members. She’s very active on Twitter too, you can follow her @ChiCityFashion.
