Last weekend on my way to Lincoln Park, I randomly ran into this lovely lady rocking the perfect relaxed weekend ensemble. I was running late to meet a friend so initially I walked past her, even though I wanted to photograph her. Then I turned around and said “F**k it” like I normally do. My friends are used to waiting for me or even worse, having me dash off mid-sentence to catch someone fashionable. I had no idea who this woman was, I just knew she had this alluring laid-back chic vibe to her. In retrospect, I’m so embarrassed I didn’t know who she was since Miriam Cecilia’s collection was my favorite at Chicago Fashion Week last fall.
I had never met Miriam Cecilia Carlson in person so I can’t be blamed! I still feel bad about it. Although honestly, it’s a better compliment anyway when I stop industry people I don’t know because I’m judging them purely on on their look that day, and not their status or name.
How cool is this? These experiences of randomness and synchronicity are just one of the many reasons I love being a streetstyle photographer! It was so nice finally meeting you Miriam and I will definitely try much harder to come to your next show.

That's a good story. I have a lot of similar stories – although not ending in meeting a fashion designer. A friend lost me while shopping last week, because I was chasing down a stylish photo op. It's hard to not be distracted by all of the people around me when I'm out.
