Featured in Time Out Chicago – Again!

I’m featured in Time Out Chicago – again! Only this time I’m featured for my streetstyle photographs rather than my personal style. The article was written by Lauren Keskey and is in italics below:

Why start a street-style fashion blog?
I stumbled upon the Japanese street-style publication FRUiTS at a bookstore in my hometown when I was 14 years old, and the pictures continue to influence my eye for street-style photography. It was when I returned to graduate school that I was free to have both the time and the energy to create a street-style website.

What makes Chicago different from other cities?
I think the Chicago fashion scene is much more down to earth. In New York, you see people wearing looks straight off the runway; the style is far more extreme. However, what actually interests me is how real people dress. I think that is the main reason behind the phenomenal success of street-style blogs. They make fashion accessible to the everyday person.

What does it take to get you to stop someone on the street?
It’s always something different, so it’s difficult to say exactly what it is about someone that would draw me to photograph them. However, I do love to photograph luxury goods, so if you’re carrying anything Hermès, I’m guaranteed to introduce myself.

In the printed copy of the issue my photos of EJ; Logik, Dimress, and Jabari; and Julia were featured. Online, my additional photos of Jena Gambaccini and Olenka were featured. Time Out wanted summer photos of everyday people. All my non-winter photos were taken within three months of me starting my blog before I developed my photography skills. I am proud of my strong eye for street style that shines through in these summer photos. After all, I’ve been cultivating it since I was a child living in the Greenwich Village entranced by all the strangely dressed artists and fashion icons who surrounded me.
