Editorial – Training for the Chicago Marathon

October 3, 2010  |  Corporate Collaborations
In celebration of the upcoming Chicago Marathon on October 10, 2010 (10-10-10!), New Balance and Chicago Streetstyle Scene teamed up to showcase the best in fashionable running apparel. This editorial is also in honor of my mother – a dedicated lifelong runner. And so it is with great pleasure and excitement that I present to you my first sponsored editorial. I hope you enjoy my editorial interpretation of training for the Chicago marathon!

The running shoes felt like jogging on air. My favorite piece is the black 360 Degree Running Jacket pictured in the first three photos. The jacket is ultra-light and has reflective strips – perfect for running through traffic-snarled city streets. The blue NBx Windblocker Jacket is thick enough to keep me warm during winter jogs but loose enough to keep heat from building up inside. The adorable hints of pink on the wrists are thumbholes to keep hands warm. I also was surprised by how comfortable the New Balance running bra is – I felt secure but not at all constricted! All in all, I was floored by the superior quality of the garments. The fabrics are incredible! It’s only a matter of time before high street fashion brands start using some of these impossibly sleek athletic fabrics in casual wear designs…
