Eve

Eve’s red and black ensemble immediately caught my eye. Eve builds the foundation with edgy black boots, black shorts, black studded belt, and soft gray tank – staples of the model-off-duty look. The Amy Winehouse-esque red bandana, tied in a statement bow, frees up her bangs and spirited curls while balancing her crimson purse and fire-engine red Ray-Ban wayfarers. This is rocker-chic done well.

Eve illustrates perfectly how to use a single vibrant color throughout an outfit. She exhibits the ideal level of restraint; by using neutrals like gray and black, she allows her red accessories to take center stage without dominating the look. Recent fashion editorials, in both Vogue and Lucky magazines, were dedicated to discussing Fall 2010’s favorite color combination. Red and black complement each other nicely. Both are bold enough to stand alone but together they create incredible energy, as seen here on Eve.

Embellished leggings is a trend I’ve been seeing regularly on the street. Since the leggings-as-pants trend is here to stay, designers are using leggings more as blank canvases to explore a wide range of adornments including metal studs, lace, and graphic prints.
