While at the Chicago Fashion Incubator runway show I ran into Brittney Payton. I originally met her at the Me: In Focus magazine’s September 2010 issue release party, where she was the guest of honor and the issue’s cover girl.
Brittney Payton is a remarkable woman and a treasure to the people of Chicago. She tirelessly campaigns for humanitarian and social causes and often speaks publicly about the importance of being an organ donor. Brittney is also very active in the Walter & Connie Payton Foundation and works with the Illinois Department of Child and Family Services to coordinate resources to help children in need. Brittney is the daughter of the late Chicago Bears running back Walter Payton.
I spotted Anna and Liz hailing a taxi after the Chicago Fashion Incubator runway show. Liz’s khaki pants have the most sensational origami inspired detail on the right leg. As if her avant-garde pants weren’t fashionable enough, Liz’s nude peep-toe Louboutins cemented her look as fashion-forward.
There is a captivating subtlety to Liz’s look. Unlike many street-style subjects, Liz’s supposed simplicity invites the viewer in for a closer look. Here, the style is in the details – how the pants drape, the sheen of the fabric, the tiny turquoise stones in her earrings. She is not a minimalist, but rather someone who understands how to release the magic of an extraordinary garment.
