Everyone was having a great time until the storm clouds rolled in and literally began to rain on our parade. Thankfully I got to hang out with many of the lovely women who won the competition:
Leilani (@TheThriftaholic)
Sara (@About_The_Look)
Kelly (@PathToPositive)
Jules (@ShopJules)
Adriana (@AnarchyGarden)
Vanessa @vanewpc who came in winner Tamariie (@LeTamz)’s place
I will let you all know when the Havaiana flip flops you won arrived, and it was really nice meeting several of you for the first time in person tonight!
Havaianas is opening a pop-up shop in Chicago and I am so excited to be co-hosting the exclusive opening party sponsored by InStyle Magazine event this Thursday, June 30th. The main attraction of the event – besides a live DJ, BBQ, and drinks – is the opportunity to design your very own custom pair of Havaianas flip flops. Most people outside of Chicago forget that the Windy City is very much a beach town, but those of us who live here know better! There’s nothing more ludicrous than watching people walk in heels on the sand. Now is the time to get yourself a proper pair of flip-flops to wear on your summer afternoons at Oak Street and North Avenue beaches!
Five lucky winners will win the chance to create their own Havaianas and hang out with me! So here’s how the contest works, broken down step-by-step:
1. Follow me (@ChiStreetStyle) and Havaianas (@Havaianas) on Twitter
2. Take a photo of your feet in flip-flops (bonus points for Havaianas)
3. Tweet the photo on Twitter along with the phrase, “I love @ChiStreetStyle and @Havaianas”
It’s really that easy! I posted a photo of my feet to make you all feel better about participating. Ignore the sock marks, and I’ll do the same on yours. Ladies, you get bonus points for crazy nail polishes! I will post the winning images on ChicagoStreetStyle.com, along with your Twitter username, so this is a great chance for you to generate more followers AND create a free custom pair of Havaianas!
Let the competition begin!!

As you can tell from the photos above, the bloggers were out in force. They ranged from street style to personal style bloggers, and I’m sure we’ll be seeing Cynthia’s pieces on blogs for weeks to come. Isa of Chicago Looks captured some fantastic photographs of partygoers for her blog: check them out here. All in all, the event was a great success. Over half of the RSVP list showed up for a total of 68 people. At one point it was quite difficult to move from the front of the boutique to the back. But hey, it’s always better to have an event over-attended than under-attended, right!?
*Extra special thanks to the stylists who assisted me with the event: Matt Kasin of Strange Beauty Show; Anthony Maslo and Cortney Tippin of Salon Soca; and Halley Nop of Marianne Strokirk.
