Proenza Schouler... Hard & Soft

Proenza Schouler… Hard & Soft

May 16, 2014  |  Streetstyle

When I saw these stunning Proenza Schouler boots peeking out from below a silk floor-length dress, my sartorial heart swooned. I simply love how the soft gown brings a lightness to these heavy black leather shoes, with their strong angularity, lemon yellow trim, and offbeat-yet-sexy lacing up the ankle.

Juxtapositions of competing elements are an excellent way to elevate any look. Hard and soft, tough and gentle, studs and silk… you get the picture.

I’ve been slacking. On my blog, at least. In other areas of my life things are blossoming, shimmering with opportunity. After a stagnant, brutally freezing winter, let’s just say I’m looking forward to a refreshing summer…

Amy Bluhm is one of my favorite people to photograph as SAIC’s The WALK runway show every year. She has impeccable taste and is always kind enough to pose. The event draws out the Midwest’s most stylish citizens. It’s our region’s only runway show that’s taken seriously by fashion professionals, many of whom fly in from New York to scout for new talent. The WALK is also a joyous embrace of Chicago’s vibrant culture & arts scene, drawing movers and shakers from various industries to celebrate what makes our city great.
