While we’re on the topic of amazing furs and faux furs, here’s a gem of a photo that inexplicably never made it onto the blog. See how a fantastic coat instantly lends a sense of style to any look? I always joke that dresses are the easiest thing to wear because that’s all there is to getting dressed. The dress is the outfit. During the winter, a coat is the same way. The coat is the outfit. That’s why you should think twice about reaching for the puffy coat unless arctic winds are fiercely blowing off of Lake Michigan. Fun coats, like Gabrielle’s here and Siera’s below, are easily thrifted and soon become your go-to outerwear. I bought one similar to Gabrielle’s from Dethrose Vintage last winter and I love it. I wish it had been colder this winter so I could wear it more!

Fur Winter Street Style

My dear friends, this is why I adore candid photos. Catching a woman wearing an extravagant amount of fur and shearling – walking directly in front of a refrigerated ice truck, no less – is synchronicity at its finest. I’m not complaining, but snow flurries falling from the sky or ice on the ground would have really made this an iconic shot. Screw you global warming.

Chicago Street Style: Siera at Millennium Park

I really love Siera’s vintage leather coat with faux fur trim. I have a soft spot for crazy coats (a well documented fact) so when I saw Siera across the street from Millennium Park there was no way I could let her go without snapping a photo. Why wear basic black when you can wear something to stand out? Fashion is meant to be fun!
