New York Street Style: Velocity

New York Street Style: Velocity

March 5, 2012

There are so many things I love about this photo. Firstly, it’s a candid. If any of you recognize her, please leave her name and/or blog in the comments so I can add it to the post. Secondly, it’s the pops of pink on the Cambridge satchel and her pink lips. And last but certainly not least, the lines in this photo are simply phenomenal. Look at the folds on her dress, the individual tufts of fur, and the way her hair is streaming in the wind. I named this photo Velocity because visually it captures the spirit of always moving forward, something all of us should keep in mind. Don’t ever get stuck in the past, because the best things in life are always ahead of us.

Total Rewards Presents Plot Your Escape Concert Series

Chillin with Raijean in the VIP section… she miraculously got me to smile on camera!

Last week Caesar’s Entertainment hosted a mindblowing array of simultaneous concerts in four of America’s coolest cities; Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and New Orleans. I was so excited to be invited to attend as a special guest of Total Rewards, the loyalty program run through Caesar’s Entertainment, the company who owns Bobby Flay’s restaurants. I’m a food network junkie so I was stoked to be involved. Here in Chicago, Giuliana and Bill Rancic from E! hosted the evening while Sarah Bareilles sang and Maroon5 jammed out. The Chicago event generated tons of buzz since how often is a concert actually FREE? That’s right, never! When my friend and I arrived at Union Station – which, by the way is a fantastic place to hold a concert – the line literally reached around the block. Don’t believe me?

I was honored when Jeff Kieslich over at The Midwestyle asked me to photograph him for an editorial on his blog. Legendary Chicago urban planner Daniel Burnham once said, “make no little plans,” and in that spirit we headed over to the Chicago River for an iconic backdrop.
