Blending an old t-shirt into a stylish look – preferably with red nails and lipstick – will always be one of my favorite fashion inspirations. Its easygoing glamour is reminiscent of the model-off-duty look, but it has more raw authenticity…
Dove recently launched The Great Style Effect on Facebook, a collection of street-style images showing women with great hair. Users can then learn how to get the look using Dove hair products. I was beyond thrilled to partner with such a fantastic company known for its pioneering ad campaigns highlighting real beauty. I scouted and photographed 20 diverse women on the streets of Chicago for the project, including Sherri above who I spotted on the Magnificent Mile.

Last week Sophie Theallet’s collection for The Limited launched. The CFDA award-winning designer, whose work is often featured in Vogue, came to Chicago to promote the collection. She told me in her beautiful French accent that The Limited had approached her to design a collection for them earlier this year. She said was honored because “The Limited has so much respect for a woman’s body and the way a woman lives and moves in her clothing.” After meeting Isabel Toledo and hearing her speak about her design process at the Art Institute last month, Sophie’s perspective on fashion was similar in the sense that both women celebrate, rather than oppress or reshape, the female figure. It was an absolute pleasure meeting her and to see the designs in person.
