Initially I stopped Kate because she represented the female version of what I’ve been exploring in my menswear posts. Attention to detail, great leather accessories, and an emphasis on a classic – not trendy – approach to style is always in fashion. Her fantastic leather ankle boots and rolled Japanese denim jeans (with an on-trend boyfriend fit) lend a casual luxe vibe to her look. Let’s not forget about that interesting accessory of hers. Less fanny pack and more high-end utility belt, this intriguing purse belt with a craftsman touch is a chic way to keep essentials close at hand at summer music festivals or a day of shopping on Rush Street. What I love most of all is how Kate creates such a personal look while staying close to the tenets of classic American style.
Just for fun, and because I adore Mickey Boardman, watch him interview Elettra for Paper Magazine below:
One of the major perks of being a street-style photographer is that I get to stop majorly hot guys on the street. More of them are starting to dress better with the whole “Gentleman’s Revolution,” a sartorial movement encouraging men to actually take pride in their appearances. This has been accelerated by the recent formation of Net-A-Porter’s brother site, Mr. Porter, an e-commerce site that edits the best of men’s fashion. To better acquaint themselves with Chicago’s style set, Mr. Porter co-hosted an event last night with CS Modern Luxury Magazine at Ian Schrager’s PUBLIC Chicago Hotel. Gorgeous guys were out in force, and before the storm rolled in I was able to snap seven of the hottest looks for Refinery29.
